Abstract

N-Hexahydrobenzyl hydrazine and its acid addition salts is prepared by reacting 1,2,3,6-tetrahydrobenzaldehyde with N-acetyl hydrazine, reducing the tetrahydrobenzaldehyde hydrazone to the N-hexahydrobenzyl-N1-acetylhydrazine and subjecting this to hydrolysis. Pharmaceutical compositions having monoamine oxidase activity comprise the compound of the invention or its salts and an inert carrier. The compositions may be in a form suitable for enteral or parenteral administration.
