Abstract

1,100,529. Inverting. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORPORATION. 29 July, 1966 [31 July, 1965], No. 34204/66. Heading H2F. [Also in Division H3] In a static inverter 1, comprising semiconductor controlled rectifiers 12 which are controlled by a pulse generator la, the input of the pulse generator is connected to the D.C. input of the inverter for starting and via a rectifier 7 and a transformer 6 to the A.C. output of the inverter for running, when the connection between the pulse generator input and the D.C. input is broken. As shown for starting the input of the pulse generator 1a is fed via a resistor 2 from the D.C. input to the inverter. Then by manual closing of the switch 5, relays 3 and 4 operate causing contact 4/1 to disconnect the D.C. input of the inverter from the input of the pulse generator which is then fed via the rectifier 7 and transformer 6, and contact 3/1 to connect the load to the A.C. output of the inverter. Contact 4/3 holds the inverter self-oscillating until either this circuit connection is broken or the input D.C. is removed. In a modification of the switching arrangement (Fig. 2, not shown), an S.C.R. is connected in series with the D.C. supply of the inverter connected to the input of the pulse generator, such that on starting this S.C.R. conducts but is made non-conducting when the rectified output from the inverter becomes more positive at the cathode of a diode (14) than at the anode of the S.C.R.
