Abstract

1,100,251. Electric bells. ASSOCIATED FIRE ALARMS Ltd., and C. G. DOUGLAS. 23 April, 1965 [24 Jan., 1964], No. 3250/64. Heading G5J. The bell shown has a striker 15 attached to a solenoid armature which flies up to strike the gong each time the solenoid is energized by a pulse from a free running transistor oscillator circuit. When the plunger falls back its head 14 strikes a rebound spring which has a natural frequency equal to or a harmonic of that of the oscillator. The solenoid is in series with a transistor controlled by the output of one of the transistors constituting the multivibrator and may be shunted by a diode to suppress inductive peaks. The other multivibrator transistor may control a similar bell. The circuitry is mounted in a gong on a panel 23.
