Abstract

[Also in Division F2] A low pressure valve for discharging waste from an aircraft into a ground vehicle and which prevents leakage during flight comprises a rubber lining 3 which is sealed at the ends 4, 5 to a rigid hollow cylindrical metal tube and is pinched to effect closure by a circular member 16 pivotably mounted on a link 15 connected, at a bifurcated end 18, by a pin-and-slot connection 17, 19 to a further link 20 fixedly mounted to rotate on a shaft 13 which is manually operated from outside a casing 8, whereby the links 15 and 12, which are urged apart by a spring 21, are moved to an over-centre position to maintain the tube 3 in the closed pinched position. The member 16 is circumscribed by a rubber ring 24 and sealing of the valve is enhanced by a foam rubber strip 23 provided between the rubber and metal tubes 3, 2.
