Abstract

The pneumatic jack is fitted with a piston which is made up in three parts. The piston as two flanged ends (14, 16) each of which has a hub (26) to slide over the rod. The flanges are separated by a seal ring (18) with three lobes, the central lobe being the thickest. The seal ring provides a wall between the two sides of the piston and also provides a shock absorber for the rod when it reaches the end of its travel. The piston flange abuts against the flexible ring (24). A bleed valve (22) allows air to escape from the ram to control the speed of the piston.
