Abstract
1,099,168. Dry cleaning apparatus. SOCIETE POUR L'EQUIPMENT DE LA BLANCHISSERIE ET DE LA TEINTURERIE FRANCAISES. June 16, 1966 [June 22, 1965], No. 26934/66. Heading D1A. In a dry-cleaning apparatus comprising a drum 28 rotatable about a horizontal axis, a spray head 15 is mounted in the front wall of the machine at one end of the drum which directs its spray at a point roughly on the intersection of the cylindrical wall of the drum and its back wall so as not to encounter directly articles being treated in the rotating drum 28. Solvent tank 1 is connected through taps 4, 5 to metering pots 6, 7 with transparent walls and fluid tight caps 6, 7 heated by electric resistances R 1 , R 2 . Each pot 6, 7 is connected through a tap 10, 11 and a disposable filter 12, 13 to a pipe 14 connected to spray head 15. Compressed air is supplied via pressure reducing valve 19 to spray head 15 and via a further pressure reducing valve 20 and taps 24, 25 to tubes 26, 27 opening into ports 6, 7 through narrow nozzles. Drum 28 has lifters 33 and is rotated by a motor 30 within a casing having a preferably transparent fluid tight door 31 on which spray head 15 is mounted. When including additives, a metered amount of solvent is fed from tank 1, e.g. to pot 6, and the additive is introduced by removing cap 8. Cap 8 is restored and tap 24 is opened so that the compressed air mixes the solvent and the additive. Taps 10 and 22 are then opened and a spray head 15 delivers a cloud of spray to the drum. The additives may be water-proofing, leather treating, dyeing, antiseptic, anti-moth or like materials.
