Abstract

Dry-cleaning baths are prepared by introducing <PICT:0460711/III/1> water or other liquid reagent, in the form of micro-particles on to a moving film of dry-cleaning solvent. A casing e, containing a solvent g, houses a rotating inner basket f upon the surface of which a film of solvent is thereby formed. Above a slot d is mounted a series of atomizing nozzles a, which may be fixed or moving, and are fed with water from a measuring vessle c, and compressed air from a pipe b. The particles are deposited on the wet surface f and remain separate until submerged in the solvent whereby a uniform dispersion is obtained. The addition of water may be made while the dry-cleaning process is proceeding. Solvents specified are, petroleum spirit or chlorinated hydrocarbons such as tri-chlorethylene. Dry-cleaners soaps, alkalies, acids, stain removers, deodorants, alcoholic solutions of soaps, glycerides or waxes may be added.
