Abstract
Waxy hydrocarbon mixtures containing less than 50% by weight of oil and boiling above 204 DEG C. are converted to lubricating oil having a viscosity index above 110 and/or a jet fuel having a luminometer number above 100 by a catalytic hydroisomerization reaction at 232-510 DEG C. with a LHSV of 0.25-5.0 at a severity which maintains a conversion of at least 25% to products boiling below 343 DEG C. In one embodiment the yield of jet fuel boiling in the 190-260 DEG C. range is increased by recycle of product boiling above 260 DEG C. The catalyst is preferably a platinum-group metal on a support. Reaction is effected at 100-2000 p.s.i. using 300-10,000 SCF of hydrogen per barrel of feed. The lubricating oil product may be dewaxed.
