Abstract

1,098,067. Plant pots. J. M. BACKX. Dec. 21, 1964 [Dec. 21, 1963], No. 51850/64. Heading A1E. A plant pot 1 comprises a perforated tray 6 supported above the base of the pot to define a water reservoir 2 and having an opening 10 through which passes a wick 9 to convey water to the soil 8, a tube 12 being attached to the tray and providing a communication to atmosphere for the reservoir. An indicator rod 14 extends through the tube and carries a float 15 which is of hollow bell-shape and seats against a part 13 of the tray to seal the tube 12 when the reservoir is full. The tray may rest on shoulder 7 provided in the pot or be formed with integral legs which rest on the base of the pot. The tray has a flexible periphery so that it seals tightly against the inner wall of the pot.
