Abstract

[Also in Division H2] In a pulse generator of the kind in which a pulse forming network PFN is charged via an inductor L1 and then discharged via a load D to generate a pulse, the pulse amplitude is stabilized by a thyratron T2 arranged to become conductive when the PFN is charged to a predetermined voltage, so as to divert at least part of the charging current into a capacitor C3. C3 is arranged to be partially discharged via diode D1 when T2 becomes non- conductive until its voltage reaches a predetermined value such as that present at the junction of capacitors Cl, C2. Impedance Z1 may be an inductor or resistor. The stabilized pulse amplitude is adjustable by R2. Diode D4 and resistor R4 prevent reversal of voltage across PFN. Fig. 3 (not shown, see Division H2) relates to a three-phase, full-wave rectifier for supplying voltage V to capacitors Cl, C2.
