Headings H3P and H3T In a pulse generator of the type described in Specification 1,053,656 in which a pulse forming network is charged through an inductor and then discharged through a load to generate a pulse, and having energy recovery means for stabilizing the pulse amplitude, ringing is prevented by connecting a resistor (R5) effectively across the charging inductor. The damping resistor may be connected in series with a capacitor directly across the charging inductor (Fig 1, not shown) or, as shown, across the series combination of charging inductor L1 and power supply E. The effect of the capacitance of the clipping capacitor C to its case may be minimised by connecting the case to earth via the damping resistor R5. C2 may be omitted.
