Abstract

1,097,684. Vacuum chucks. DUNHAM TOOL CO. Inc. March 31, 1965 [April 29, 1964], No. 13686/65. Heading B3D. [Also in Division F2] A workpiece is held to a vacuum chuck by unscrewing valve screws 17 over the appropriate area of the chuck plate 15 to expose a passage 25 through the screw 17, whereby vacuum within a chuck cavity 9 is applied at vacuum holding ports 16. The screws 17 are provided with sealing 0-rings 24 on the underside of the valve heads 21. The vacuum chuck is provided with a pressure gauge and a release valve for admitting air to destroy the vacuum therein.
