Abstract
1,097,293. Construction of an opening door on model vehicles. DIE CASTING MACHINE TOOLS Ltd. and A. R. MILLS. Dec. 13, 1966 [Jan. 7, 1966], No. 963/66. Heading A6S. A door on a toy vehicle is openable about an axis or axes and has an extension at its inner side edge that in the closed position of the door extends behind the adjacent margin of the vehicle's body, the extension having on its inside surface a ridge parallel to said axis or axes; a substantially straight spring member bears against the apex of the ridge, the ridge being located forwardly of the said axis when the door is in the closed position and rearwardly of said axis when the door is in the fully open position. As shown in Fig. 4 the ridge 23 lies in front of the inside corner 15 so that in the closed position of the door the spring 16 exerts a turning moment on the door which tends to press the extension more closely against the margin 10a of the vehicle body. When the door is fully open the spring 16 may lie flat along the surface 21 but it is merely necessary to ensure that the point 23 is rearwards of the corner 15, as shown, with the spring exerting a turning moment on the flat 27 tending to press it against the vehicle body. Hence each door has two stable positions, one open and the other closed.
