Abstract

1,097,181. Circular shuttleless looms. TSENTRALNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUTE PROMYSHLENNOSTY LUBYANYH VOLOKON TSNILV. Aug. 27, 1964 [May 27, 1963], No. 21002/63. Heading D1E. A dummy shuttle circular loom weaves two separate fabrics with single picks of weft and tucked-in selvedges. Weft extends from a bobbin (14) through a clamp 10 and a guide 8 to the ingoing selvedge. A spring loaded catch 22 raises a gripper (18) in the nose of an ingoing dummy shuttle (7) so that as it enters the shed, it takes in a loop of weft that then extends on the inside and outside of the shuttle (Fig. 4b, not shown). When the shuttle is partly in the shed a knife 11 operates to cut the inner thread in the fabric width and a projection 53 on the shuttle tucks-in the weft end. The clamp 10 then closes so that the weft is drawn through the gripper (18) and extends on the outside of the shuttle only and a projection 54 on the shuttle beats-up the previously laid pick. The guide 8 is then moved inwardly so that the weft is looped around a projection 56 on the inner part of the shuttle and is laid as a single pick until the shuttle leaves the shed and the shed changes. After the shed has changed a hook 12 enters the warp sheet and on withdrawing, tucks-in the outgoing selvedge weft end.
