Abstract

1,097,127. Lamp houses. VANN BROS. Ltd. Dec. 9, 1966 [April 25, 1966], No. 17924/66. Heading F4R. A lamp housing, especially for diagnostic purposes, includes a platform 12 sliding in guides 11 and carrying a pair of lamp sockets 16, 17 (not shown) supporting bulbs 6, 7 (not shown), either of which can be moved into register with a light emitting aperture 23 by sliding the platform, e.g. by means of a handle 15 moving in a slot, a micro-switch 18 actuated by movement of the platform being provided to break the connection to the first bulb when this is moved out of operative position and to make the connection to the second bulb when this is moved into operative position. The switch has two pairs of terminals 19, 20 (not shown) connected to the output of a transformer 4 within the housing, and is operated by a spring returned lever 21 engaged by a depending member 22 on the underside of the platform. The light emitting aperture may be adapted for the attachment of a flexible light guide. The housing is cooled by a blower 5 which directs air into the hollow base and thence over the bulbs to light-trapped louvres 9 in the upper part.
