The evacuated space between inner and outer walls 1, 7 of a container for liquefied gas having a low latent heat of vaporization, e.g. helium, is occupied by layers of heat insulation material, e.g. vegetable fibre paper individually separated by thin polished heat reflecting screens 5 of good thermal conductivity, e.g. copper, gold or silver in thermal contact with and at different points along the length of the conduit 4 extending between the walls 1, 7 and through which passes heatabsorbing vapour from the gas space of the container. The screens 5 are connected to spaced flanges 6 of the tube 24 which serves as the filling and emptying tube.
