Abstract

812,375. Storing liquified gases. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Dec. 5, 1956 [Dec. 22, 1955], No. 36807/55. Class 8(2). An outer shell 11, Fig. 2, is spaced from an inner liquified gas containing shell 10 by the interposition of rigid cellular material, e.g. corrugated sheets 12 of bonded glass fibres, which serves to brace the shells 10, 11 and act as heat insulation when after evacuation the space remaining between the shells is filled with powder insulation, e.g. silica gel. In a modification thin metal sheeting is formed into a honeycomb construction the individual cells 17, Fig. 4 of which are connected together by apertures 18, Fig. 5 (not shown) in their walls and are bonded to the contiguous walls of the shells 10, 11.
