Abstract
1,095,964. Dental instruments. E. E. F. BESSON. March 24, 1966 [April 16, 1965; April 30, 1965], No. 13137/66: Heading A5R. A support for a manually rotatable dental instrument, e.g. a nerve extractor, file or borer, comprises a U-shaped member having limbs 20, 21, the ends of which are adapted to grip the tool handle (2-8) axially thereof, and a cursor 27 on the limbs which, when slid towards their ends, tightens their grip on the handle. The support is used with instruments having handles coaxial with their shafts. One limb 21 has at its end 23 an aperture 24 into which the tool shaft is passed via a radial slot 25. The other limb 20 has at its end 22 an aperture 24 for engagement with an extension of the instrument shaft (3, Figure 2), and the handle, a pin (4, Figure 3) projecting from the handle, or a spigot (10, Figure 4) on a cap which is driven over the handle. Alternatively, the limb 20 may have fixed at its end 22 a cap (31, Figure 12) for fitting over the end of the handle or a pin (32, Figure 13) for entering an axial bore in the handle.
