Abstract

[Also in Division B8] Apparatus for homogenizing powdered or granular material comprises containers 1 having different through-flow times and connected in parallel so that the overflow from one is fed to the next, an equal quantity being drawn from each container as by pocket wheels 5. The overflow from the system passes to a container 8 and is sensed by devices 9, 10 or by a bunker level indicator to control the discharge rate of the containers 1, which may be formed by partitioning a single container (see Figs. 6 and 7, not shown). The materials may be conveyed by pneumatic conveyers of the type comprising an open or closed trough divided into upper and lower channels by a porous medium below which air is introduced under low pressure to fluidize material so that it will flow under gravity; they may also be placed in the 'bottom of a container to convey material to a central discharge outlet, see Figs. 7-9 (not shown).
