Abstract

1,094,630. Applying closure clips to filled bags &c. J. M. CANALDA and E. G. MARSAL. Dec. 22, 1964 [Oct. 2, 1964], No. 52098/64. Heading B8C. A machine for applying a clip round a bag or tubular package neck comprises pawl and ratchet operated draw rollers for a strip of metal or wire, deflecting means to cause the strip to curl round the neck and means to clinch and sever the curled portion to form a seal. Two spaced seals may be formed, the clinching means carrying a knife for severing the neck between them. Two strips are fed round a loop forming pin 11 on an oscillating arm 12 to pairs of draw rollers 26, 31, the pawl 22, operating the roller ratchet 21, being mounted on the arm. A lever 9 pivoted at 10 is caused by the arm 12 to reciprocate a clinching head 6, the edge of which severs the strips after they have been deformed to embrace the neck in a channel 7. The head also severs the neck between the seals.
