Abstract

Vaporizers, external.-Heavy-oil fuel from a float chamber A is vaporized in a coil C heated by exhaust gases passing along the pipe E and the vapour is discharged through a jet G into a chamber H communicating at H<1> with the motor. Primary air is admitted at H<2> and supplementary air at H<3>. For starting the engine, the fuel is heated electrically at O. Water from a float chamber Q is vaporized by means of a coil P and discharged at S. To regulate the temperature, as when ordinary petrol is used, the exhaust gases may be diverted into a by-pass pipe L by means of a valve L<1>.
