A continuous series of envelopes with mailing sheets adhesively attached to one perforated margin of the envelopes so that upon severance of the perforated margin the mailing sheets are removed from the envelopes simultaneously with the severance of the margin are made from two superposed webs 14, 14a, Fig. 1, defining the front and back walls of the envelopes and the webs are provided with a first margin 15 having apertures 16 for registration purposes, whereby following assembly of the envelopes and contents and sealing, the first margin 15 is cut off along a line 56 providing a series of envelopes defined by glued areas 58. Individual envelopes are produced by cutting the series along a transverse line 12. Disposed adjacent the first margin 15 is a second margin defined by line 56 and tear line 18 with reference to which all mailing sheets such as 21, 36, 37, 43, Fig. 3, which are prefolded and provided with adhesive marginal glued areas 58, are aligned before the front and back wall forming webs 14, 14a are superposed and adhered to one another through the intermediary of the glued marginal areas 58 to thereby enclose the mailing sheets within the sealed envelope. Mailing sheets such as 21 (Fig. 2) are produced from a continuous web provided with a similar margin 15a, having registering apertures 16a and in which the sheets 21 are defined by transverse cuts formed by adjacent margins 52, 46 which cuts are wider than the corresponding glued areas 58. Sheets which are adhesively bonded to the perforated margin are withdrawn from the envelope simultaneously with the severance of the margin along the tear-line 18.
