Abstract

1,094,296. Work-transferring. COVENTRY RADIATOR & PRESSWORK CO. Ltd. June 23, 1965 [Sept. 25, 1964], No. 39069/64. Heading B3B. [Also in Division H1] A magnetic head for a conveyer comprises a cylindrical permanent magnet 10 having a concentric bore 11 containing a fluid-operable piston 12 coupled to a non-magnetic member 16 arranged to separate magnetisable articles from the lower face of the magnet 10. As described, the conveyer is used for transferring workpieces between the operating stations of two sheet steel working machines, the workpieces being separated from the lower face of the magnet 10 by injection of compressed air at 22 to the upper end of the bore 11. Seals 13 may permit the flow of compressed air to clean the brass member 15 during each operation. A return spring (not shown) may be included.
