Abstract

1,076,227. Machine tool details. PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. Sept. 24, 1964 [Sept. 27, 1963], No. 38958/64. Heading B3B. [Also in Division F2] A rectilinear bearing has pressurized fluid supplied between its bearing surfaces and has at least one of its bearing surfaces on a member which is resiliently mounted. In an embodiment, guide surfaces (5, 6), Fig. 1 (not shown), of a guide (1) coact with guide surfaces (4, 7) respectively of members (3, 8) of a slide (2). The member (3) is rigidly connected to the slide (2) and the member (8) is connected to the slide (2) by a spring (9). In another embodiment (not shown) both members (3 and 8) are each mounted on a spring (9). Pressurized fluid is supplied (by means not shown) to a passage (10), Fig. 3 (not shown), having restricted ducts (11) connected thereto, and to gaps (12, 13) between the guide surfaces (4, 5 and 6, 7). The spring (9) may be replaced by an H -shaped metal member (9), Fig. 3, having projections (17) on one limb thereof or by a rubber block, for example.
