[Also in Division F2] A fastener for fixing a machine shaft 4 in a housing bore 5 comprises a rectangular spring steel plate 1 having a plane margin 2 around one or more indentations 3 formed of trapezoidal and parabolic shapes in longitudinal and cross sections respectively, the depth of the indentations having a specified ratio to the strength of the plate material. Fig. 7 (not shown) illustrates a hexagonal shaft held in a circular housing bore by means of a number of such fasteners.
