Abstract
1,094,219. Fused frequency interrupters. LEEDS & NORTHRUP CO. May 14, 1965 [July 22, 1964], No. 20564/65. Heading H2B. An elongated movable contact member 90 is mounted by a resilient flat spring portion 91 and has a rigid portion (132), (Fig. 3, not shown), with flanged sides 94, the rigid portion carrying a wire contact 92 for engaging a wire stationary contact 76 and the flat spring portion 91 being at an obtuse angle with the rigid portion so that wiping occurs on making and breaking contacts 92, 76, when a vibrating reed 32 disengages or engages portion 96 of movable contact member 90. The stationary contact member 66 is adjustable by a screw 80, as is a similar stationary contact member 67 by a screw 81, contact member 67 having a co-operating movable contact member 89. The vibrating reed 32 carries an armature 36 comprising permanent magnet portions 38, 39, and a removable brass spacer 42, and the driving coil 10 and core 12 of the synchronous converter are housed in an electromagnetic shield 20 of magnetically soft material providing a return path for the flux in core 12. The beryllium copper reed 32 has gold alloy projections 56, 57 engaging portions 96, 97 of movable contacts 90, 89 and insulatedly mounted on the reed 32. The wire contacts 76, 77 are of gold alloy and the stationary contact members 66, 67 have flanged portions 72, 73 to add rigidity.
