Abstract

1,094,118. Shearing. R. NEVILLE. May 25, 1966 [May 26, 1965], No. 22336/65. Heading B3W. A vice is adapted for shearing operations by removing the vice jaws and fitting a pair of L- shaped shearing members. Each member comprises an anchoring cheek 1a, 1b which is secured to the vice by a bolt 4 passed through a slot 3 and a cutter blade 2a, 2b. The parts la and 1b are of different heights so that as the vice is closed the cutters overlap. The slot 3 is at an angle to the base of the anchoring cheek to allow the member to be fitted to vices of different makes in which the position of the tapped hole for the vice-jaw securing screw varies. One of the cutter blades (2a) Fig. 1 (not shown) has a straight edge parallel to the back surface of the anchoring cheek. The other blade 2b, has an edge 6a which makes a small angle with the back surface of the cheek 1 b for the majority of its length and then has a more sharply angled part 6b for initially pierceing a sheet to be cut. Both the cutters may have raked edges.
