Abstract
1,093,600. Coin-freed caretaker cabinets. AMERICAN LOCKER CO. Inc. June 15, 1 1965, No. 25192/65. Heading G4V. A coin- and key-operated lock for caretaker cabinets comprising a rotary barrel 26 movable with a lock bolt 28 to locked and unlocked positions includes a pawl 39 normally in engagement with a shoulder 38 to retain the barrel and bolt in one of said positions, but rendered inoperative by contact of a coin feeler 82 with a coin 58 held in predetermined position in a passage 22 by a finger 57. Removal of the key 27 allows a lever 50 (Fig. 2) on which the finger 57 is mounted to swing to release the coin. The maximum coin diameter is deterj mined by the end 64 of an interchangeable plate 62 blocking the top of the coin slot 23, and the minimum diameter is determined by inserting in a selected one of a series of holes 60 in plate 50 a detent 59 of an arm 56 which carries finger 57. The coin may pass to a collection receptacle or the lock may be adapted to return the coin when the bolt is unlocked.
