A drive for the ram 22 of a single, or double, action mechanical drawing press comprises a crank or eccentric 6b, a link 7b and a connecting rod 20b, the crank or eccentric also being connected by links 8c, 8d to a swinging link 10b which is connected by links 13c, 13d to an arm 15b fixed to a shaft 16b, and the arm 15b being connected by links 18c, 18d to the connecting rod 20b. The point of connection 21b of the connecting rod and the ram is adjustable. A similar arrangement is provided on the other side of the press, giving a two-point or, if four connecting rods are used, a four-point drive for the ram 22. Where a work-holder ram 2 is provided, this is driven by a pair of connecting rods 29a, 29b on each side of the press. The rods 29a, 29b are linked to bell-crank lever 27a, 27b oscillated by links 25a, 25b which are driven, through arms 23a, 23b, by the shaft 16a. The linkages may be used for a single point drive of a press-ram (22), Fig. 3 (not shown), and a four-point drive of the work-holder ram (2). This is connected by rods (31a-31d) to slides (30a-30b) which are reciprocated by the connecting rods (29a, 29b). One or more of the pivots (9a, 9b, 12a, 12b, 24a, 24b) may have eccentric pins which may be swivelled by a worm meshing with teeth on the pins. The pins are locked by further pins after adjustment.
