Abstract

1,093,272. Pivot mountings. NEPTRIX SCIENTIFIC INSTRUMENTS Ltd, R. C. E. WILSON and A. J. HARRIS. June 19, 1964 [June 20, 1963], No. 24656/63. Heading E2F. [Also in Division F4] A connector 10 for joining two relatively movable members, e.g. lamp socket and lamp stand, Fig. 1 (not shown) comprises a pair of ball-ended pieces 15, 16 threaded internally and externally respectively for engagement with the movable members and a body formed in two parts 21, 22 meeting on a common diametral plane and forming two spaced spherical sockets 23, 24 to engage the balls. The movement of ball 15 is limited to rotation about the common axis of the sockets by a peg 19 projecting upwardly in an equatorial groove 18 in the ball. This movement is limited to about 330‹ by a peg 25 in the socket 24. The movement of the ball piece 16 is restricted to one about an axis at right angles to the centre line of the sockets by faces 23A of the two part body having close engagement with diametrically opposed flats on the stem 16A. The two parts 21, 22 are clamped onto the balls by means of screw 27, which may be adjusted to govern the degree of freedom of the joint.
