A motor vehicle package tray fitted below the facia of a motor vehicle to extend across the whole or part of the vehicle width comprises a sheet 1 of non-self-supporting material held in tension. In a first embodiment, Fig. 1, the rear edge of the plastics sheet 1 is screwed at 2 to a bulkhead 3 of the vehicle, and the forward edge is formed as a sleeve receiving a tension coil spring 4, or a length of rubber (not shown), secured at its ends to fixed parts (not shown) of the vehicle so that the sheet is held in tension. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the sheet 1 is tensioned by a deformable peripheral wire frame (5a)-(5d) secured at (5a) to the bulkhead (3) and at (5b), (5c) to fixed vehicle parts (not shown). In a third embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the sheet 1 is tensioned between elastic cords (6), (7), secured to fixed vehicle parts (not shown) and threaded through holes (8) along the sides (la), (1b of the sheet; alternatively the cords may run along the forward and rearward edges of the sheet 1. In a fourth embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the sheet 1 is secured along its rearward edge (1a) to the bulkhead (3) and along its forward edge (1b to a rigid member (9), the ends of which are slidably received in two parallel guides (10), (11) mounted on the vehicle, and are urged away from the bulkhead by coil springs (13), (14). In a fifth embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), the rearward edge (1a) of the sheet 1 is secured to a spring-loaded roller (15) on the bulkhead (3), and the front edge (1b) carries a rigid member (18) the ends (16), (17) of which are detachably or fracturably connected to fixed vehicle parts (not shown).
