Abstract
1,092,631. Shovel excavators. DOWTY HYDRAULIC UNITS Ltd. March 1, 1965 [Feb. 27, 1964], No. 8232/64. Heading E1F. [Also in Division F2] An earth moving or like vehicle has a jack-actuated earth moving implement 22 and is also provided with a shock absorber comprising a cylinder 12 which houses a piston 13. Hydraulic fluid forced out of the jack 18, 20 displaces the piston 13 to expel fluid through a pressure release valve 26 to a reservoir 27. Displacement of the piston 13 downwardly in the cylinder 12 allows a valve spool 31 to move under its spring loading such that pressurized fluid from a pump 28 passes through pipes and ports 29, 34, 37 and 25 to the lower chamber 24 of the cylinder 12 to restore the piston to its normal position whence the valve spool 31 is restored to its inoperative position. In a further embodiment displacement of the piston actuates a pump through an electrical device.
