Abstract

A foot form, for use in a machine which applies a sole and heel unit to a shoe by moulding, has a body portion (8) (Fig. 1, Figs. not shown) provided with a recess (12), a heel portion (14) pivoted to a support member (20) extending rigidly from the body portion and extending into the recess, and a mechanism (30) to move the heel part about its pivot between an extended and foreshortened position. In the extended position of the form the gap separating the insole supporting surfaces (11), (15) of the forepart (10) and heel-part (14) is small, and in the foreshortener position the heel-part (14) lies substantially within the contour of the extended form. The angle (54) between surface (11) and recess (12) is substantial so that the rear portion of the forepart is not liable to damage. The pivots (26), (42) connecting the heel-part (14) to member (20) and to link (40) are housed in a slot (16). Link (40) with link (33) forms the toggle mechanism (30) which is operated by handle (36) to extend or break the form.
