Abstract

1,092,259. Shelf unit. S. A. HIRSH MANUFACTURING CO. March 31, 1966 [Oct. 21, 1965], No. 14391/66. Heading A4B. A knock down steel shelving unit comprises a T-shaped spring blade 18 secured to the inner wall 28 of a box flange 24 on the longitudinal edge of a shelf and having two tapered buttons 20 which engage in keyhole perforations 62 in the front wall 54 of a tubular corner post. The inner wall 28 of the box flange 24 is coplanar with the front wall 54 of the corner post and, in assembly, the buttons are finger pressed against the action of the spring blade 18 into the upper wide ends of the keyhole perforations and the shelf is then pressed downwardly. The width of the spring blade is the same as the height of the box flange. The front wall 54 is covered by a wood strip (16) having projecting screws (76) the heads of which are engaged in smaller keyhole perforations 66 in the front wall 54. The walls of the box flange may be ribbed. An end panel (14) has a marginal groove which engages in a slot 58 in the rear wall of the corner post.
