Abstract
1,091,731. Substation circuits. DANFOSS A.S. March 3, 1965 [March 3, 1964], No. 9096/65. Heading H4K. Connected in parallel with a telephone receiver 1 (Fig. 2), is a crackling noise protective device consisting of a junctionless, non-rectifying solid state switching device 4, which when the voltage applied to it reaches a threshold value, switches from the high resistance to the low resistance condition and, when the current through it falls below a holding value, reverts to its original condition. In one arrangement the solid state switch 14 (Fig. 3) is connected in parallel with the receiver 11 through a step-up transformer 15. The transformer has windings 16, 17 of ratio 1 : 1. Winding 19 has considerably more turns than winding 16. A resistance 18 is provided. The switch in the high resistance condition exhibits a resistance of the order of megohms and in the low resistance condition a resistance of 1 ohm or less. It may consist of 67À5% tellurium, 25% arsenic and 7À5% germanium.
