Abstract
1,091,400. Mobile display drive mechanism. J. ANTHONY. May 2, 1966, No. 19279/66. Heading G5C. A mobile display includes a motor M, capable of delivering thrust strokes in two directions alternately and having a tendency to switch from one stroke to the other when the stroke is impeded, coupled to a display element 2 (Fig. 2) or 44 (Fig. 3) for driving the element between two display positions, there being stops 36 or 48 for impeding the thrust strokes each time a display position is reached. The motor comprises a rotor and a stator, the rotor carrying an impeller 8 which rotates in one of two directions until thrust is impeded. In Fig. 2, the element 2 is coupled to the motor through meshing gears 4, 6 and oscillates through a path of 180 degrees. In Fig. 3, the oscillating movement of the impeller shaft 8<SP>1</SP> is translated into linear reciprocating movement of the element 44 by attaching the element to the shaft by a flexible chord 42 which winds on the shaft. Two elements may be provided on a pulley arrangement attached to the impeller shaft (Fig. 4, not shown).
