Abstract

108,944. Wolseley Motors, Ltd., and Remington, A. A. Oct. 12, 1916. Reversing.-To maintain the same order of firing for both directions of running, the engine cylinders are arranged in units having separate cam shafts rotating always in the same direction, each unit having its cranks in one plane. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the units B, B<1> each comprise four cylinders and have separate cam shafts A, A<1> respectively. driven through bevel-gearing c, e<2>, e<1> from the crank-shaft. The wheels c, e<1> are loose on a shaft E which carries a dog e<4> and is moved axially to engage the dog with recesses e<3> in the wheels e, e<1>. The magnetos K are driven from the shaft F so as to rotate always in the same direction.
