Abstract

[Also in Division H3] A variable potentiometer unit for tuning a television receiver (see Division H3) comprises a resistance track mounted on a box carried by the nut of a push-button spindle so that, when the button is pushed in, a blade on the nut bridges the resistance track to a fixed conductive track. Rotation of the button moves the nut along the spindle to vary the position of the blade relative to the track (construction in Figs. 4, 5-not shown). In Fig. 6 the resistance track 73 is divided longitudinally into two sections traversed in succession by the blade. The two sections are connected in parallel to permanently engaged contacts 89, 90 which supply the operating voltage. The contact track 72 is connected in circuit via a contact 88 when the button is pressed. A further blade 81 on the nut bridges a continuous contact strip 79 and a divided contact strip 80 to form an auxiliary switch to connect one or other of the two sections of the resistance track into circuit.
