Abstract
817,635. Printed circuits. HARDING, T. B., and MIDDLETON, J. D. May 6, 1957 [May 4, 1956], No. 13767/56. Class 37. [Also in Group XL (c)] In a printed circuit a capacitor whose value has to be pre-set, has one electrode in the form of an elongated portion of the printed circuit connected at one end to the remainder of the circuit, whereby its value may be pre-set to a desired value by cutting across the electrode at an appropriate point along its length. Fig. 2 shows two such electrodes 14, 15; they are provided with notches along their lengths and these are numbered to assist in identifying the notches. The reverse side of the printed circuit panel may also carry a portion of the printed circuit, Fig. 1 (not shown); in this event the conductor on the reverse side may be cut away immediately beneath the electrode 14 or 15 where only a small total capacitance is required. The printed circuit assembly may form part of a television tuner (see Group XL (c)) the printed circuit on the reverse side of the panel supporting metal contacts which engage with moving contacts connected to the tuning coils.
