Abstract

1,086,894. Mechanical switches. PLESSEYU.K. Ltd. Jan. 8, 1965 [Jan. 10, 1964], No. 1136/64. Heading H2B. A successive actuation switch has a U-shaped dolly member 13 having hook portions 13a, 13b for latching engagement with either of two spaced abutments 11a (11b), of the switch body 11 under a biasing spring 14. Movement of an actuator member 13, e.g. a spring-loaded push-button, causes either arm 12a or 12b to engage the member 13 and release hook portion 13a or 13b from its abutment, and pivot the member 13 towards the other abutment upon which it latches when the actuator member 12 is released. Member 13 is conductive and bridges contact members 15, (15), in one or both latched positions (Fig. 3, not shown). Two switches are mounted together such that member 13 is operable independently of member 13<SP>1</SP>, but actuator member 12<SP>1</SP> has an extension 12b<SP>1</SP> such that, when moved, member 121 operates both members 13, 13<SP>1</SP>, from the position shown (Fig. 4). Actuator member 12 has an extension 12a such that when member 13 is unlatched from its inmost position (Fig. 6, not shown) then member 13<SP>1</SP> is unlatched conjointly if it also is in its inmost position. Application of member 13 to controlling vehicle side and tail lamps and member 13<SP>1</SP> to controlling head lamps is mentioned.
