Abstract
1,086,175. Building panels; beams. B. H. TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. and DISTILLERS CO. Ltd. June 24, 1964, [June 28, 1963], No. 25830/63. Headings E1B and E1W. A beam which may be covered on both faces to form a roof or wall panel may be of laminated timber and comprises two or more longitudinal members 1,2, and transverse webs 3 set at an angle between 45 and 60 degrees to the plane of the frame, the webs 3 extending only part way from one face to the other of the frame. Transverse and frame members (not shown) may be provided. To form a roof panel the frame may have a threelayer covering comprising insulating board 5, asbestos carboard 6 which is set back to form end slots, and a plastics sheet 7. A spigot plate 8 couples the end slots of adjacent panels. Side-by-side panels are coupled by blocks (not shown) engaging grooves 4, the joint being sealed by an inverted U strip engaging channels 9 in adjacent sheets 7.
