Abstract

1,085,660. Can ends. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. March 2, 1966, No. 9177/66. Heading B8D. A can end made of tinplate includes a panel 1 having an opening (5). Fig. 1 (not shown), closed by a closure member 6 of soft metal such as alumi nium or an aluminium alloy, adhesively secured to the underside of the panel, and provided with score lines 11 after appli cation to the can end, defining a removable portion provided with a pull-tab 13 to effect removal thereof by tearing along the score lines. The can end may be provided with ribs 9. The adhesive may be a thermo-curing adhesive comprising an epoxy resin with a suitable plasticizer and hardener on a thermoplastic adhesive of the nylon type applied as a thin strip. The surfaces of the panel 1 and closure member 6 may be prelacquered with a vinyl-based lacquer.
