Abstract

108,547. Webb, J. E. Aug. 21, 1916 Fire-extinguishing by solutions.-Apparatus adapted to be fitted to fire hose for impregnating the water with chemicals, such as calcium chloride or sodium bicarbonate, comprises a box or chamber a divided by a perforated partition b into two compartments, one of which, d, contains the chemical and the other c is provided with unions f, g, for insertion in the hose. Water passing through the hose chamber c dissolves some of the chemical in the other chamber d. A by-pass h may be provided to allow a certain proportion of the water to pass through the chamber d and from thence through the partition b into the main stream. A filling-aperture, transverse strengthening-stays, and a handle are provided.
