Abstract

1,085,264. Filler blocks for floors or beams. WILLIAM HIGGINS & SONS (MANCHESTER) Ltd. April 7, 1966 [Feb. 17, 1965], No. 6756/65. Heading E1W. A filler block for concrete floors and beams comprises a base 2 and two upstanding hollow portions 6, 8 for dissimilar thickness spaced apart to form a channel, which may contain a further upstanding hollow portion with a channel 20 in its upper surface. The blocks are placed in alignment in end-to-end abutment, with the thinner portion 6 of at least one block at one side, and with the thicker portion 8 of at least another block at the other side, so that the channels between the portions 6 and 8 of the aligned blocks form only a partly aligned pathway, which is filled with concrete. Preferably the portions 6, 8 alternate in the longitudinal direction. The channels 20 are centrally placed so that when the blocks are in alignment, these channels, which are filled with concrete, are also aligned.
