Abstract

108,509. Anderson, W.. and Meikle, J. Aug. 4, 1916. Carbonizing apparatus and processes.-Coal or other carbonaceous material is carbonized in the presence, at high temperature and under pressure, of hydrocarbon vapour obtained by distilling oil by the process described in Specification 108,508. [Class 32, Distilling &c.]. The apparatus described, which is identical with that described in the Specification referred to, comprises a still 1, tubular superheater 3, and condenser 5, the retort 6 in which the carbonizing takes place being in a by-pass connexion between the superheater and condenser.
