[Also in Division B5] A moulded-thermoplastic or thermosetting plastics lampholder comprises a base 10 with conductors 16 moulded therein, an integral internally threaded cylindrical skirt 11 for engaging a threaded lamp cap, and a disc-like plug 17, 18 moulded of the same material and fused to the lampholder and carrying strip contacts 22, 23, for engaging the lamp cap contacts, electrically connected to the conductors 16, e.g. by crimping around or soldering to the bared parts thereof, or by being provided with pointed ends that pierce the insulation thereof. The base 10 comprises a disc 13 with an integral extending rectangular bar (14, Fig. 7) enclosing a flex (.15) comprising the conductors 16. The plug comprises an integral cylindrical boss 19, a pimple 20 and a lug 21. The plug 17, 18 is formed in an auxiliary mould and the contacts 22, 23 inserted before or after moulding. The lampholder mould comprises a block apertured in its upper surface to provide a female part surrounding an externally threaded male part for forming the skirt 11, said male part having a central recess in its end, and a plate having a circular depression for forming the base 10 around the conductors 16. The plug 17, 18, with the contacts attached, is inserted into the central recess so that the rim of disc 17 rests on the male part and the disc 18, pimple 20 and lug 21 are contained within the recess. The flex (15) is then split over a small distance to separate the conductors 16, and the contacts 22, 23 are connected to the conductors 16. During the moulding of the lampholder, the flex (15) lies in complementary grooves in the upper surface of the block and in the plate. The plate is then clamped to the top of the block and the skirt and base moulded, the plug fusing thereto. When the material has set the plate is removed and the lampholder unscrewed. The male part, which is removable from the block, is unscrewed from the lampholder long after the latter has been removed from the block. If, alternatively, the male part is integral with the block, during moulding the flex (15) lies in grooves in the plate only.
