A device for forming a plastic tube 62 includes a mandrel 148 of the shape of a bottle having a neck portion (Fig. 2, not shown), a sleeve 49 of expansible elastic material open at one end and closed at the other which fits over the body portion of the mandrel 48 with its open end extending over and secured to the neck, the said neck having a fluid entrance passage extending therethrough to the interior of the body portion of said bottle and the body having an opening 57 therethrough underlying the sleeve 49. The present Specification describes and illustrates an apparatus similar to that described in Specification 1,040,685. The tube 62 is preformed by spiral or convolute winding and impregnation with a thermosetting resin, preferably phenolic, which is cured to the " B " stage before the sleeve is placed over the mandrel. The mandrel and sleeve are located inside a thin elastic metal tube 37 inside an outer casing 1 closed at the ends. The tube is first blown out by air pressure until it fits inside the metal tube 37. Hydraulic pressure which would be sufficient to stretch the metal tube 37 is then admitted into the mandrel 48 but a pressure sufficient to balance the stretching excess is admitted between the casing 1 and the metal tube. The hydraulic fluid is then heated to cure the thermoplastic tube in situ.
