Abstract

A solid shaped composition for addition to molten iron comprises at least 35% of an element or alloy selected from Si, Mn, Cr or Por a ferroalloy of any of these, in addition to CaF2, cement and water. This composition serves the dual purpose of alloying and fluxing but the use thereof does not obviate the necessity of adding further fluxing agents in a manner known per se.
