Abstract

1,084,371. Yarns. COMMONWEALTH SCIENTIFIC & INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH ORGANIZATION. Feb. 7, 1966 [Feb. 9, 1965], No. 5293/66. Headings D1F and DIW. The strength of a yarn, produced as disclosed in Specification 1,015,291 from at least two strands by separately twisting the strands so that they each have along their lengths alternating zones of opposite twist separated by twist change over zones of no-twist, and converging the strands together so that they twist around one another to form a stable yarn, having along its length alternating zones of opposite plying twist, is increased by twisting the yarn unidirectionally. The yarn may be twisted until the plying twist in alternate zones is zero or until the plying twist in all zones is in the same direction, although of different intensity. Preferably the two strands are converged with their zones of opposite twist in phase.
