Abstract

Closure members. - In an air or scavenging valve for internal combustion engines, the valve head A is formed with a peripheral lip providing a concave annular surface c against which the incoming air strikes and is directed backwards and outwards, so that the air spreads over the cylinder surface in a constantly deepening layer, without mixing appreciably with the combustion products. The lip lies immediately outside the seating surface a<1> with which the concave surface c is continuous.
